Covered Licensees:
Mortgage Brokers must be licensed.

Domicile Requirements:
Licensed Mortgage Brokers are not required to maintain a physical office in the State of Washington.

Financial Regulations:
Mortgage Brokers must provide a surety bond ranging from $20,000.00 to $60,000.00.

Licensing Requirements:
A. For Pre-Licensure, either a demonstrated 2 years' experience or pass a state administered test. The state offers no educational resource for test preparation; it is up to the potential licensee to prepare for the exam. The state test includes basic mortgage proficiency along with federal and state laws.
B. Mortgage Brokers must take an approved course each year and pass a test. The courses are not hourly rated, but are state approved.
C. Mortgage Loan Officers who act as Mortgage Broker Company representatives to meet State of Washington requirements must complete an approved course each year and pass a test.
